Religious Trauma
Helping clients heal from religious hurt and find spiritual liberation in a personal way.
Religious trauma therapy is a specialized form of therapy designed to help individuals who have experienced psychological, emotional, or spiritual harm as a result of their involvement with a religious community, belief system, or spiritual practice. This kind of trauma can occur in many contexts, such as in authoritarian or fundamentalist religious settings, when individuals experience extreme control, manipulation, fear of punishment, or indoctrination.
As a survivor of religious trauma myself, I hold space for clients to process the hurt from doctrine and from significant attachments within religious institutions. As we work toward healing, I help clients explore what spirituality or deconstruction looks like moving forward. We then work on finding a narrative about life and who you are that is rooted in your individualized values and beliefs.
